Prior to forming Railroad Development Corporation, Mr. Pietrandrea spent eleven years with the L. B. Foster Company, where his responsibilities included trackwork manufacturing and sales, railroad dismantling and salvage, new product development, analysis of prospective regional railroad properties, the development of track maintenance and rehabilitation programs, the establishment of net liquidation values, and management of regional railroads' engineering departments through start-up (including staffing, purchasing material and equipment, and initial licensing). He was also involved in obtaining state and federal funding for grade crossing and track rehabilitation prospects.

Mr. Pietrandrea began his railroad career in 1972 with the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad's engineering department, supervising major track programs. 

Mr. Pietrandrea serves as President and a Director of RDC, and his responsibilities include engineering, operations and administration. Recent examples of his work include the development of track maintenance and rehabilitation programs, the establishment of pro forma departmental budgets for properties under consideration for purchase and the establishment of net liquidation values for financing purposes.

Mr. Pietrandrea also serves as a Director of Iowa Interstate Railroad; a Director of Ferrovias Guatemala; a Director of Ferrocarril Central Andino; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Central East African Railways Company Ltd.; and a Director of Tangent Rail Corp., a leading provider of rail products and services.

Mr. Pietrandrea attended the Community College of Beaver County, the University of Pittsburgh, and Geneva College. He has lectured on railway engineering subjects at a number of universities and industry conventions, as well as having authored articles appearing in railroad industry publications.
